Recap / The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You Ch 109

Go To

Rentarou introduces Momoha to the family. When Momoha (who is drunk, naturally) reveals that she's the ethics teacher, Kishika wonders what sort of ethics anyone could learn from her.

Uto muses that Momoha could serve as an Anti-Role Model, though Kurumi is still unimpressed. Iku is confused by Kishika's reaction: Shouldn't she have taken ethics in her second year? Mimimi reveals that it's an elective class and one that she herself is taking. Don't expect her to jump to Momoha's defense. Kusuri reveals that she took it during her second year.

When Yamame reveals that Momoha is the gardening club advisor, the latter begins thanking both her and Hahari, earning the good will of Hakari and Mei. When some of the other girls accept her, Momoha is deeply moved and wishes that all of them were old enough to drink. Hakari suggests having a drinking party with Serious Kids' Beer, which is non-alcoholic. Everyone agrees to meet at the Hanazono residence the following day.

That night, however, a silhouette only identified as "The Big Cheese of the Publishing Biz" shuts the idea down. Even if Rentarou were to defeat it, no can do.

The next day, it's revealed that everyone had the same dream and similarly failed to get permission.

Rentarou arrives with an idea to help simulate a drinking party anyway: First, they turn down the A/C and raise the temperature. Then every drinks some cool juice that Rentarou prepared himself to make everyone flushed. The cold drinks with the warm room will cause hiccups.

(He also brought warm drinks for those who don't want to drink anything cold)

The next step is to read from a book of tongue twisters. After that, they darken the room and put on mood music. The last step is to include a footnote stating that no alcohol has been consumed.

Despite Karane's skepticism, the pretend drinking party is soon underway.

Hakari asks Momoha if she has any... experience. Momoha embarrassedly admits that Rentarou is her first boyfriend, but she's got plenty of solo experience, which Hakari can relate to. Hakari then asks Yaku about her experience, but Yaku slyly brushes it off, causing Hakari to change her mind about the subject.

Naddy sadly admits that she doesn't have any experience either. Chiyo tries to cheer her up before laughing at her own joke, leading to Momiji groping Naddy.

When Rentarou starts chatting about something that happened between him and one of the girls, Ahko hugs him, prompting Karane and Meme to also join in. Mei requests an order, but Rentarou doesn't have one.

Suddenly, Shizuka stands up and takes a pose that Yamame recognizes from when the rabbits get rebellious. The chapter ends with the narrator wondering what sort of heinous acts the newly-delinquent Shizuka will get up to.

Tropes:

  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: The "Big Cheese of the Publishing Biz" shuts down the family's plans and any attempt to force it to allow it.
    • Kusuri's "drug-that-make-you-act-drunk" got a "no can do".
    • Uto's attempts to refute the point didn't work.
    • Iku's "one-woman paddling show" didn't work (and as the volume bonuses reveal, just confused it)
    • Momiji says it didn't even feel good to grope.
    • Naddy doesn't explain what she tried, but given her personality, she presumably tried to argue that they had the freedom to pretend-drink.
    • It shuts down Rentarou's implicit threats of violence and Mei's actual attempts of violence.
  • Call-Back:
    • The Serious Kids Beer was first put to use in Chapter 98 to incapacitate Sukisugi-chou's competitors in the sports festival.
    • Naddy is reduced to Inelegant Blubbering just like she was after getting drunk in Chapter 107.
  • Do Not Try This at Home: Inverted. As the pretend drinking party starts, a footnote encourages good boys and girls to try having one at home.
  • Footnote Fever: Once the party starts, every panel has a footnote stating that alcohol hasn't been consumed.
  • Liquid Courage: Parodied. Karane is notably less flustered than normal, Meme isn't compelled to use her Ninja Log in this chapter, and Chiyo is much more relaxed about things that would trigger her OCD, being more prone to laughter than snarling.
  • Masturbation Means Sexual Frustration: Momoha and Hakari both admit to having plenty of "solo" experience.
  • Playing Drunk: Rentarou's backup plan for The Big Cheese refusing to allow him and the girls to indulge in Serious Kids Beer.
  • Smash Cut: Karane is skeptical that Rentarou's plan will succeed in getting everyone Playing Drunk, but in the very next page, everyone is laughing like drunkards.
  • Tongue Twister: Rentarou has the girls recite these in order to garble their speech.
  • The Unintelligible: Ahko slurs her words so much that Rentarou is the only one who can understand her.
  • Values Dissonance: Conversed in-universe. When Rentarou points out that Doraemon made a machine to simulate drunkenness, the Big Cheese points out that it was a different time.note
