Whilst in cyber space, the Turtles get a message from April urging them to return to the real world at once. As soon as they get back the cyber portal explodes. Whilst Don sets to work fixing it with Serling and April's help, Leo, Raph and Mikey decide to check up on the ongoing enemy civil war with Casey. But strange things start happening, and it isn't long before the Turtles realize they're not in the real world.
This episode provides examples of
- Accidental Misnaming: The copies of Casey and April refer to Mikey and Don as “Mickey” and “Donald” respectively.
- A Glitch in the Matrix: The Turtles realise that they are still in Cyberspace after a series of signs that they aren’t in reality.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Cyber Shredder manages to complete the portal, even with the Turtles managing to escape his trap.
- Beneath Notice: The black cat seen on the rooftops is actually the Cyber Shredder.
- Big "NO!": Raph does this when Casey is seemingly vaporised.
- Catch a Falling Star: Raph catches Mikey when the latter misses a building jump and plummets.
- Foreshadowing: Casey offhandedly referring to Mikey as "Mickey" seems odd. Then the building Mike was about to land on moves on its own. Then April refers to Don as "Donald". Then Casey says "Gondola" instead of "Goongala", indicating something fishy is going on.
- Lack of Empathy: The fake April barely reacts to Casey getting vaporized, only saying that it was going to happen sooner or later.
- Mangled Catchphrase: The fake Casey's battle cry is "Gondola!"
- Not Himself: The Turtles begin to realize something's not right when April and Casey behave not like themselves.
- Platonic Cave: Instead of exiting cyberspace back into the real world, the Turtles were transferred into a realistic simulation of the real world.
- The Reveal: When the black cat turns into the Cyber Shredder, revealing that it was him all along.
- Shout-Out: The fake Casey and April call Mikey and Don "Mickey" and "Donald."
