Recap / Teen Titans Go S 7 E 6 Marv Wolfman And George Perez

Go To

Real-life comic book writers Marv and George have one day to come up with a new Teen Titans show, and bounce some wacky ideas off of each other.

Tropes:

  • Anachronism Stew: The two eponymous authors are brainstorming during what's supposed to be the year 1980. However, one of the scenarios they came up with featured Superman fighting Doomsday. Doomsday as a fictional character wouldn't make his comic book debut until the year 1992.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: The "Super Organs" end up deciding to empty Superman's bowels in front of a crowd celebrating his victory over Doomsday, because only his outwards appearance is receiving praise for it.
  • Hong Kong Dub: The "Pit Crew Titans" segment intentionally has voices not match the character's lip flaps, and at one point, Cyborg's voice comes out of Starfire's mouth.
  • Hurricane of Puns: The "Teen Tight-Hands" segment is mainly an excuse to make as many hand puns as possible, such as "We're the Tightest, hands down", "We must lend the helping hand", "You've got to hand it to him, that's pretty underhanded", "It's time to get a handle on the situation", and "Looks like we've got the upper hand".
  • Origins Episode: In the end, the show Marv and George decide to pitch, based on a doodle in George's pocket, is Teen Titans GO! itself.
  • Potty Emergency: The "Super Organs" segment has Superman's organs, played by the Teen Titans, having to manage his bladder levels in the middle of a fight against Doomsday.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The "Teen Tight-Hands" segment contains various references to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, such as the Tight-Hands living deep underground, its villain, The Clipper, wearing The Shredder's armor, and his clipper-tron minions resembling the robot Mousers.
    • The "Pit Crew Titans" segment is one huge reference to the original Speed Racer, including dubbing errors.
    • As the "Super Organs" the control room of Superman's body is like a Starfleet ship.
