Recap / Teen Titans Go S 7 E 19 What A Boy Wonders

Go To

Robin creates a book club to promote his new autobiography, but the other Titans would rather discuss other books.

Tropes:

  • British Teeth: In Raven's story, instead of being antagonized by the "Forty Thieves", she's up against the "Forty Teeths", three bandits with so many missing teeth there's only a total of forty between them.
  • Control Freak: In Cyborg's Alice-inspired story, the "Tea" party is replaced by one in which the Queen of Hearts (Robin) forces the Mad Hatter (Beast Boy) to only serve Tofu, Tapioca, and other foods beginning with the letter "T". When Cyborg insists on ordering a Bacon Burger instead of a Turkey Burger, it does not end well.
  • Jackass Genie: In Raven's story, when the "Forty Teeths" bandits try to get three wishes out of Raven the Genie, she tricks them into wasting their first two and then twists the third so that the bandits end up trapped in her lamp while she goes free.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: In Starfire's story, she plays the role of an easy-listening DJ who puts on some rap music and becomes DJ Hyde, whose beats are literally killer.
  • Off with His Head!: In Cyborg's story, this is shouted by the Queen of Hearts when Cyborg breaks the rules of the "T" Party by ordering a Bacon Burger. She follows through on the threat, turning him and the other guests into Titan Tetrazini.
  • Spoof Aesop: Raven claims that the moral of her story, in which bandits with bad teeth get tricked by a genie into getting trapped inside her lamp, is "always brush your teeth".
  • Title Drop: "What a Boy Wonders" is the title of Robin's autobiography.
  • Toilet Humor: The plot of Beast Boy's book pick "Dr. Doo-doo-little" is about a doctor curing all of the animals in the jungle of their constipation, which unfortunately occupies all of the toilets when he has to make "doo-doo" himself.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The books that the other Titans would rather talk about are blatantly inspired by other works, with Robin outright stating that Beast Boy's pick of "Dr. Doo-doo-little" sounds like a rip-off of Doctor Dolittle. Raven's story is based on Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves with herself as the genie from Aladdin, Starfire's is a DJ-themed take on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, while Cyborg's is based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
