This episode of SMG4 contains examples of:
- Absurdly Ineffective Barricade: Meggy hides from Beeg SMG4 in a trash can, hoping in vain that if it can't see her, it can't hurt her.
- Demon Slayer: This episode reveals that Shroomy hunted demons for a living before he became a boy scout.
- No Name Given: Even though he's the main antagonist of the episode, Shroomy's Superpowered Evil Side isn't mentioned by name—this doesn't happen until "Deleted.", where his name is revealed to be "Anti-Shroomy".
- Shout-Out: The first time the Upside Down is mentioned, it's written on-screen in the font used for Stranger Things' opening titles. The name and concept are also taken straight from that series.
- Summon Bigger Fish: When they summon Long SMG4.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Anti-Shroomy is way stronger and more aggressive than regular Shroomy, capable of beating the crap out of demons without breaking a sweat.
- Weirdness Magnet: A frustrated Saiko lampshades Mario's status as oneSaiko: WHY DOES CRAP LIKE THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN WHEN I'M WITH YOU?!
Mario: I don't know. - Wham Episode: This episode reveals that everyone's favorite peppy little boy scout mushroom has a much darker past than we may have anticipated.
- Whole-Plot Reference: To The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
