The island residents (Plus Oscar's parents) take cover in the library as a storm brews outside, and Susie has a complete meltdown.
- Absurdly Ineffective Barricade: Susie's attempt to barricade the library door consists of simply putting random stuff against the door, not even trying to nail them down.
- Acting Your Intellectual Age: Susie acts like you'd expect a confused teenager would for once. Panicky, standoffish and finally having a giant crying episode.
- Break the Haughty: Susie completely breaks down crying when she believes she has permanently screwed things up.
- Bring It: Susie locks the other campers in the basement safely and goes to confront her emotional tornado.Susie: Hello, old friend.
- Clingy Costume: Susie is unable to take off her rain boots. The frustration over this, compounded by the current situation, is what causes her to break down.
- "Eureka!" Moment: When the power goes out and Oscar's dad talks about going to check the breaker, Hedgehog realizes that the island must have some magical equivalent to a breaker that may turn the magic back on.
- It's All My Fault: Susie blames herself for what happened to Mildred, for making Ghost the Boy forget Betsy, and now for turning off the magic seemingly forever.
