Timeframe: During Rebels' second season.

Ahsoka gives Ezra a lesson in finding his inner strength and trusting in the Force when she disarms him and pressures him to adapt to her attacks on the fly.

Tropes Include:

  • Call-Back:
    • Sabine's motif, which was first heard in full during her duel with Kanan, shows up again when Ezra has an epiphany.
    • Ahsoka's insistence that Ezra learn how to defend himself without a lightsaber makes sense considering she fought an Inquisitor without one in Ahsoka.
  • Call-Forward: Ahsoka teaches Ezra that he doesn't need his lightsaber to be powerful. In the Series Finale of Rebels, he goes through his final trials without one, and it doesn't slow him down at all.
  • Figure It Out Yourself: Besides a few hints, Ahsoka leaves it to Ezra to figure out what the lesson is supposed to be.
Ezra: How am I supposed to concentrate on finding my crystal if you keep attacking me?
    Ahsoka: How indeed?
  • Grin of Audacity: Ahsoka is having a little too much fun attacking Ezra, bordering on Psychotic Smirk as he slowly realizes what she's doing.
  • The Man Makes the Weapon: The core of the lesson is that while lightsabers are a great weapon, it's the true power is with the one who wields them
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Ahsoka's way of teaching Ezra not to rely on his lightsaber is to remove the crystal and then start attacking him while he's disarmed.
  • Your Eyes Can Deceive You: Ezra eventually figures out how to evade Ahsoka's attacks with his eyes closed.
