This episode contains examples of:
- Dinosaurs Are Dragons: The Yoshis. Mario and Ike even argue over whether Yoshis are classified as dinosaurs or dragons.
- Fire-Forged Friends: The incident with the Yoshis is what leads Mario and Ike to becoming friends.
- Imposter Forgot One Detail: Wario manages to suss out Kirby when he knocks both him and Bowser off the Battlefield stage, with the former using his jumping ability to get back safely, while Bowser fails to make it, and loses one of his ten-life stock. Wario then grabs and throws Kirby off the stage himself, noting that only he could've made it back after being knocked back so far.
- Mistaken Identity: Mario initially confuses Ike for Roy. Though how he confused the Fiery Red Head Roy for Ike is anyone's guess.
- Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: Bowser is more than ready to brush Meta Knight off as cowardly...and then Meta Knight shows off his true skill to prove otherwise.
- Spot the Imposter: A Cutaway Gag regarding Wario attempting to find a teammate for Bowser has Kirby attempting to copy Bowser, and Wario being unable to tell the difference between the two of them.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Kirby copying Bowser basically amounts to Kirby wearing a Bowser-style set of hair and horns, and yet Wario is somehow completely fooled by it.Bowser: Oh, COME ON! ISN'T IT OBVIOUS?!?
- Potty Failure: Much to his embarrassment, Meta Knight wet himself due to both stressing out about meeting Bowser and drinking ten glasses of water while passing the time. It was enough to get him kicked out of the tavern he was staying at.
