Would you put your brain in a robot body?

The hull has been breached and Sealab is in danger, but for the most part, the crew of Sealab is uncaring. They have more important things to talk about, like whether they would put their brains in robot bodies or not. Quinn is the only one that bothers to attempt to save Sealab while they discuss what kind of robot bodies they'd have, robot-human dynamics, and the upcoming robot war. Even as Quinn saves Sealab, they still discuss it, until a frustrated Quinn reveals that he is a cyborg.

As he finishes a heartfelt speech asking for acceptance and friendship, Sealab blows up.

The Stinger: Harry Goz as Captain Murphy doing some outtakes on the line "There go my nipples again."

Tropes

  • "Cavemen vs. Astronauts" Debate: A few sections of the robot body discussion, especially when Hesh gets involved.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The level of thought the characters put into their discussion and questions shows a level of intelligence that the rest of the series shows they don't really have outside of Sparks.
  • Multiple Endings: The Season 1 DVD reveals some alternate endings for this episode.
  • Ridiculously Human Robot: Doctor Quinn.
  • Robotic Reveal: Doctor Quinn at the end.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: The Episode
  • Shout-Out: When the discussion comes to the idea of a Robot War, one of the crew raises the question of how humans could tell if they were robots. Debbie suggests, "Dogs know, that's how they'd hunt you," a reference to one means the resistance used to spot the titular robots in The Terminator.
  • Skewed Priorities: The crew, minus Doctor Quinn, place the priority of their robot body conversation over Sealab's imminent doom.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Quinn at the end of the episode, chewing everyone out for talking about robots while Sealab is in peril.
