Recap / Scrubs S 1 E 12 My Blind Date

Go To

J.D. is helping Cox reach a 24-hour goal without losing one patient, but a woman slipped in the hospital and Kelso demands J.D. give her personal attention so she won't sue. Elliot would love to take over, but Cox doesn't acknowledge her.

  • An Aesop: Even though he's upset to lose a patient, Cox won't let Eliot pretend he got his perfect game just because "we need this". A one-hitter is damn near miraculous, and it would cheapen it. It's an endless pursuit to perfection and we have to take our victories where we can get them.
  • Flawless Victory: Cox has the possibility of pitching a perfect game, an ICU of 24 patients all of whom he intends to see live through the day.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: JD suggests Eliot quit, become a lesbian, and hook up with some hot model.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Eliot spends the episode upset that Cox never asks her to do any real medical work, focusing all his attention on JD instead.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Turk spends the episode freaking out because he realizes he loves Carla more than he's ever loved any previous girlfriend.
  • Shout-Out: Cox yells at Eliot using the "Help me help you" speech from Jerry Maguire.
  • The Unreveal: Part of JD's story is a romance with a woman stuck in an MRI machine, wondering if she's hot. The episode ends without us ever seeing her face, though JD does.
  • You Just Had to Say It: Everyone yells at Eliot for jinxing Cox's perfect game. Later she repeats the mistake.
