When Muscle Man accidentally sets off fireworks meant for a Fourth of July celebration at the park, he, Mordecai, Rigby and Hi-Five Ghost must travel south of town to buy a powerful (and illegal) firework at a factory.
Tropes:
- Affably Evil: Despite clearly being an unstable psychopath, Hector can be legitimately friendly as long as you don't interfere with his business.
- Here We Go Again!: After the whole firework fiasco, Benson congratulates the four workers for saving the ceremony, but then demands that they now replace the burnt grass because of this incident. Cue Muscle Man saying that he knows a guy who can get them some.
- I Can't Believe It's Not Heroin!: South-of-the-Line Chili Rellenos is treated like any illegal drug. More specifically filling Chili Rellenos with gunpowder to enhance its spiciness is illegal by the FDA.
- Jerkass Ball: Benson is even more of an jerk than usual. While he had an understanble reason to berate Muscle Man for setting off all their fireworks before the celebration, he threatens to fire Mordecai, Rigby, and Hi-Five Ghost, even though they had nothing to do with it. He even fires them without testing that the firework they got might be effective.
- Knows a Guy Who Knows a Guy: Said word for word by Muscle Man for knowing Hector to be selling fireworks. By the end of the episode, Muscle Man knows a guy who sells "real cheap sod."
- Misplaced Retribution:
- Benson threatens to fire Mordecai, Rigby, and Hi-Five Ghost alongside Muscle Man even though it was only the latter's fault the fireworks were set off.
- Likewise, Hector tries to kill Benson after his crew blew up his factory while he himself and his employees were in it.Benson: Who are you?!
Hector: I'm the guy whose business your employees just destroyed. I'm also the guy who's gonna blow you all sky-high with this! Starting with you, Jefe!
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Muscle Man had unwittingly lit up all the fireworks before the biggest event started on the night of July 4th from a tiny spark that was from one of his test fireworks.
- South of the Border: The guys look for firework at the "South of the Line". They run afoul of an illegal chili relleno cartel.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Benson lays into Muscle Man for accidentally setting off all the fireworks:Benson: (red) WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!
Muscle Man: We were just...
Benson: WHY WOULD YOU LIGHT OFF ALL THE FIREWORKS BEFORE THE BIGGEST EVENT OF THE YEAR?!
Muscle Man: Just hang on now, Benson! I know this looks bad, but I can fix it!
Benson: Fix it?! Fix WHAT??! You just RUINED the 4th of July!
Muscle Man: I know, I know. Just hear me out. I know a guy who's got the hook up on cheap fireworks!
Benson: I DON'T WANT CHEAP FIREWORKS! That stuff you just blew up was top of the line!
Muscle Man: Benson, trust me. This guy's stuff is quality. I'll pay for it out of my own pocket.
Benson: Alright, fine! But if you guys aren't back before the show starts at sundown, YOU'RE FIRED!!!
