Recap / Raising Dion S 1 E 9 Storm Killer

Go To

With the crooked man closing in and a final confrontation seemingly inevitable, a terrified Nicole tries to protect Dion by fleeing the city.

Tropes

  • Achilles' Heel: When he is the Crooked Man, Pat can only see other superpowered people, while normal humans become invisible to him. Nicole exploits this to sneak up to him for a surprise attack.
  • Beam-O-War: Between Dion and the Crooked Man when they fire their energy and lightning at each other.
  • Creepy Child: Brayden already had shades of this in episode 7, but here he fully becomes the trope upon getting possessed by The Crooked Man. His eyes turn black, he kills his aunt, and as he leaves the farm, a storm cloud follows him.
  • Killed Offscreen: Joan, who is killed by Brayden after he becomes the new Crooked Man. We only briefly see her corpse on the floor.
  • Mama Bear: Nicole attacks the Crooked Man with an improvised lightning rod to protect Dion.
  • Militaries Are Useless: BIONA shows up with a professional version of the Storm Killer to fight the Crooked Man, but he easily incapacitates them, leaving it up to Nicole and Dion to defeat him.
  • No-Sell: Jonathan tries to fight the Crooked Man with the storm killer backpack he, Dion and Esperanza made. But since it's a prototype, with only a small canister of liquid nitrogen, it has no effect at all.
  • Playing with Fire: A flashback reveals that Pat's girlfriend from Iceland had this power.
  • Sequel Hook: Pat is gone, but the Crooked Man posesses Brayden Mills. The disaster of the dying land in Iceland has also yet to be resolved.
  • You Killed My Father: Dion tells Esperanza the Crooked Man killed his dad, and that is why he wants to fight him.
