Go To

With Animus having taken away the Wild Zords, the Power Rangers must find a way to stop Mandilok's latest flunky, Toy Org, but can they win even without their partners?

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Armor-Piercing Response: Merrick is torn over accepting Animus's offer or staying on Earth, but it's hearing Cole lecture Mandilok about "the true soul of humanity" that gets to him.
Cole: ...but in times of need, we humans will do whatever it takes to help our friends.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Merrick blasting Toy Org, when the other Rangers are worn down.
  • Despair Event Horizon:
    • Without their Zords, Taylor, Danny, and Max feel it's pointless to try fighting the Orgs. Alyssa manages to rally them.
    • Elsewhere, Merrick is left shaken by not just losing his Zords, but also Shayla in a coma. At the memorial, he admits he doesn't know what to do now. It makes it tempting to accept Animus's offer.
  • I Choose to Stay: After overhearing the other Rangers indirectly calling out Animus for his views on humanity, Merrick decides to stay on Earth for good.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: After Toxica makes Toy Org grow, Mandilok boasts that the Rangers have lost. Merrick reveals that he has his Zords and immediately forms the Predazord.
  • The Power of Friendship: Thanks to his bonds with the Zords, Merrick helps Animus defeat Toy Org. Ultimately, Animus gives the Wild Zords back to the rest of the Rangers for good.
  • Power Upgrade: The Rangers use their animal spirits to empower Merrick and his Predazord against Toy Org. Later Kite/Animus gives Cole the Wild Force Rider as a gift and also to make up for Cole losing his bike to protect him back in "Homecoming".
  • Rage Against the Mentor: The Rangers indirectly go against Animus during their attack on the Toy Org, with Merrick ultimately refusing Animus' offer to stay with him.
  • The Reveal: Kite/Animus is revealed to be the boy from the dark dimension. The four Rangers' actions in that episode led to his resurrection.
  • Rousing Speech: Alyssa when convincing Taylor, Max, and Danny to go fight Toy Org.
  • Sadistic Choice: Animus is content to leave the other Rangers to fend for themselves, but he offers Merrick the chance to join him since he comes from a different time. Merrick chooses to stay to fight the Orgs as opposed to abandoning his friends.
  • Secret Test of Character: Animus took away the Zords to give the Rangers a test on how they can help the other humans stop the Orgs from polluting the Earth.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: When some workers scatter in the face of an attack, Mandilok says that's the true soul of humanity and mocks the Rangers for risking everything to protect them. When the workers regroup to help save people buried in rubble, Cole lectures Mandilok about humanity's true character.
  • Title Drop: "That is the true soul of humanity."
