The heroes arrive to watch May's third contest in Kanto, and she seems fired up to win her third ribbon. However, Harley is there to compete, and as usual, he's there to win. May needs to keep her guard up if she wants to beat him, but it seems that Team Rocket has placed him in their crosshairs too.
Tropes:
- The Bad Guy Wins: Harley beats May in the contest.
- Bait-and-Switch: It seems like Munchlax's Metronome attack has failed, but it instead calls down a powerful Thunder attack that heavily damages Octillery.
- Even Evil Has Standards: An example that goes both ways, Harley wouldn't dare to stoop towards stealing Ash's Pikachu for Team Rocket (though it's mostly due to this own ego) in exchange for information about the twerps. Likewise, Team Rocket is put off by Harley's It's All About Me attitude (though this is mostly due to him calling them losers).
- Hope Spot: May nearly gets Harley's points down before his Octillery recovers and is able to deal out a powerful attack that knocks Munchlax out.
- Remember the New Guy?: Harley got an Octillery at some point, and uses it here against May.
- Spanner in the Works: Wobbuffet falling out of his Pokeball and crashing into the stadium gets Ash suspicious enough that he goes to investigate. Sure enough, he finds Team Rocket pilfering Pokemon. They don't make their case any better when they claim they want to help May beat Harley, yet have an entire cage full of stolen Pokemon.
