• Curb-Stomp Battle: Pikachu, having already taken much damage from his battles with Clawitzer and Aegislash, gets defeated very quickly by Sawyer's Sceptile.
• Double Knockout: Two instances of Pokémon taking each other out: Salamence vs Noivern and Slurpuff vs Goodra.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Sceptile's Leaf Storm gets thrown right back at him by Greninja's Water Shuriken, and ends up knocking him out in the process.
• No-Sell: Sceptile's Leaf Storm completely fails to block Greninja's giant Water Shuriken.
• Rule of Cool: Greninja being able to absorb his own double team clones to supersize his Water Shuriken makes no sense whatsoever and is never explained, but MAN does it make for a big finish.
• Sword Fight: Sceptile and Greninja dueling each other with Leaf Blade and Cut comes across as this, with both Dual Wielding and Greninja using a Reverse Grip.
