Ash seems to be in a pinch right now.

As Ash and the others continue their quest to bring Riolu safely back to its kingdom, their situation couldn't be worse. Not only has Ash been separated from his friends who could help him face Hunter J and her goons, but thanks to J burning the forest down, he has no where left to run. Will Ash and his friends overcome Hunter J and finally fulfill their promise to Riolu?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • And I Must Scream: Despite being turned into stone, Riolu is still able to communicate with Ash using Aura.
  • And the Adventure Continues: The episode ends with Ash, Dawn, and Brock heading out to their next adventure in Pastoria City.
  • Badass in Distress:
    • Riolu is captured by Hunter J and turned into a statue to be sold to her client.
    • Ash is binded by J's Drapion and dropped from her base and was going to fall to his death if Kellyn and Staraptor hadn't caught him in time.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Despite Ash and Kellyn recovering Riolu before it was stolen for good, they still lost it long enough for J to receive her payment and escape without receiving any punishment for her actions.
  • Darker and Edgier: Continuing the trend from the previous episode, things get pretty dark as J tries to kill Ash multiple times in the episode on screen. Yikes...
  • Dirty Coward: J's Client not only flees after obtaining Riolu leaving his men to fight Ash's friends, but doesn't hesitate to leave his Fearow behind to avoid them catching up to him.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: J's Client's henchman use a variety of Rock and Ground type Pokémon to battle Ash's friends with.
  • Kill It with Fire: Hunter J tries to incinerate Ash with a Flamethrower attack, and we even hear him screaming off-camera. If Chimchar hadn’t saved him he likely would have been killed.
  • Multi-Part Episode: This is the second and final part of the two part special.
  • Put on a Bus:
    • Riolu returns to its kingdom at the end of the episode.
    • Kellyn and Solana return to other missions as Rangers.
    • Hunter J leaves to go find her next target.
  • Scream Discretion Shot: We hear Ash screaming when J sends a massive Flamethrower attack in his direction. He’s okay, but it’s clear J thinks he’s dead.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: J ditches her client when Ash and his friends confront him, since she's already been paid and it doesn't matter now whether Riolu is freed.
  • Spanner in the Works: Unsurprisingly Ash becomes this due to his ability to use Aura allowing him to sense where Riolu was numerous times to save it.
  • Taken for Granite: Hunter J turns Riolu into a statue so it can be sold to her client.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Big time with Hunter J. Between firing multiple attacks directly at Ash, as well as having her Drapion squeeze him nearly to death as retribution for interfering with her work, to dropping from a high distance that with out Kellyn's help would have resulted in him dying for sure.
