Some Liepard try to get the jump on Iris and Druddigon.
Clay: "Hmph. Ya know, it ain't just me."
Lenora: "So sorry. We all decided to stop by."
Elesa: "Ignoring Team Plasma... Don't you know that would be a terrible thing for us Gym Leaders to do?"
Burgh: "You see, we must do everything that we can, for the sake of each and every Pokémon as well."
Skyla: "Unova's skies... will be safe with me!"
Drayden: "I can certainly emphasize with some of what you say. But I cannot ever forgive the way... YOU REJECT EVERYTHING ELSE!"
—The Gym Leaders of Unova, arriving to oppose Team Plasma.

Iris is encountered by the Seven Sages of Team Plasma after N's Castle rises and overwhelms the Unova Pokémon League building. Initially, she and her Druddigon are alone against an army of Plasma grunts. But the other Gym Leaders of Unova, led by Drayden, soon arrive to back her up.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adapted Out: The Generation V Player Character's role is instead taken by Iris.
  • Big Damn Heroes: It is proven that Iris is merely the vanguard, as the other Gym leaders (except Cilan, Chili, and Cress) quickly show up after her:
    • Clay and his Excadrill
    • Lenora and her Herdier
    • Elesa and her Zebstrika
    • Burgh and his Leavanny
    • Brycen and his Beartic
    • Skyla and her Swanna
    • and Drayden and his Haxorus
  • Continuity Cavalcade: This depicts the rise of Team Plasma's Seven Sages in Pokémon Black. As with the game, the only Gym leaders not present for the battle are Cilan, Chili, and Cress. Many of the lines are lifted straight out of the games, and even the order in which the gym leaders are shown mirror the order in which they spoke during the original game scene (except, obviously Iris).
  • Empathy Pet: Burgh's Leavanny mimics its master's moves.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Brycen's Beartic grabs a Pokémon and chucks it back into a castle as if it were nothing.
  • Ice-Cream Koan: Most of the Seven Sages "speech" is just them spouting old proverbs that have nothing to do with the current situation, which Iris lampshades by yelling at them about how pretentious and nonsensical their sermon is.
  • Mythology Gag: Clay's Excadrill jumping up behind Iris brings to mind the fact that Iris had one in the main anime.
