After Starlight has cleaned up after Pound's floor-wetting and diaper-messing, she tells him off and, when the Cake parents come home from Fillydelphia, tells them what happened. The Cake parents wonder how to deal with the situation: Mrs Cake suggests waiting until he's a bit older, but Mr Cake suggests taking his diapers away, like his parents did when he was a colt. Mrs Cake is worried they'll come off as bullies, but Mr Cake reminds her that if they wait, he'll know he holds the advantage over him, his sister will tease him about wearing diapers when she doesn't, and he might even start school in diapers.
Mrs Cake agrees, but is still reluctant and afraid Pound might hate her and Mr. Cake for doing it and she's worried he'll have accidents. Mr. Cake suggests getting pull-ups once he realises he has to use the potty. So they take away all the packs of diapers except one.
In the morning, Pound feels that something is off but he can't quite lay a finger on it (and that's not just because he lacks fingers). He sits down and realises what it is: he's naked, even though he fell asleep with a diaper on. Mr Cake comes in and reveals that the diapers were thrown away and Pound gets very angry.
He uses his potty, but is determined to somehow get his diapers back, and when his sister asks him how exactly, he decides he'll make his own diaper. He uses a bunch of his stuffed animals he doesn't play with anymore, then poops in it, but it starts to come apart. The parents rush to change him and Mr. Cake remembers that as a foal, he did the same with napkins.
