"Big Mama P" is the first episode of New Girl's fifth season.
Jess has planned a lovely engagement party for Schmidt and Cece, and has even flown Cece's mother Priyanka in as a surprise. The problem? Cece hasn't told her mother she is getting married.

- Language Barrier: Nick picks up the wrong Indian woman from the airport and doesn't realize it until he brings her to the party because she doesn't speak English.
- Parental Marriage Veto: Priyanka empathetically refuses to give her blessing to Schmidt and Cece's union.
- The Power of Rock: Lampshaded. Jess says she had hoped to win Priyanka over with a well-timed Bollywood dance number the way Priyanka herself won over her future in-laws. It doesn't work.
- Retcon: In season 2, Cece cites being the product of a successful arranged marriage as the reason she doesn't mind entering into one. In this episode, however, Jess says Cece's parents were a love match that her paternal grandparents initially disapproved of.
- Staircase Tumble: Jess falls down almost two flights of stairs and has apparently broken quite a few bones.
- Starcrossed Lovers: According to Jess, Cece's father's parents forbid him from marrying her mother at first, but were moved by her skill at dance.
