Rarity and Twilight are getting beauty treatments at the Ponyville Spa when Rarity decides she needs a flowing manestyle similar to Princesses Celestia and Luna. She tries a spell from Starlight Glimmer, hair spray, and sticking her head out the window of a moving train, all with unsatisfactory results, then is inspired when she sees some of her fabric swaying in wind from Spike's wings. Her solution is to have Spike fly in front of her so that his wings keep her mane flowing.
Tropes:
- Dramatic Wind: Invoked by Rarity using wind from Spike's wings.
- Failure Montage: The short mostly consists of Rarity failing to get her mane to blow on its own.
- Long Hair Is Feminine: We finally see Rarity's mane uncurled and it is very, very long (even more than Fluttershy's). It is long enough that without it blowing in the wind from Spike's wings it can actually reach the ground.
- Messy Hair: Before running into Spike, all of Rarity's attempts at getting blowing hair are unsuccessful.
- Series Continuity Error: Twilight says that only Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have manes that flow on their own, but Mistmane has the exact same thing with her mane.
- Wind from Beneath My Wings: Rarity exploits the wind from Spike's wings to keep her mane and tail in motion.
