With the play done, the group heads to an after-party thrown by the CMC, but they're upset that Mr. Cranky is refusing to let them use his projector to showcase pictures they took during the production.
If Applejack helps them, she gets into a "stubborn-off" with Cranky and distracts him with an argument while the CMC grab the projector. If Rainbow helps, she gets the CMC to get Cranky out of the room so she can sneak in and take the projector. If Rarity helps, she points out that the projector belongs to the school, not Cranky, so he has no grounds to deny them its usage.
Tropes:
- Cutting Off the Branches: Some of the endings of the previous Multiple Endings shorts are canonized: Pinkie Pie's combined drum solo and set-building spree ("Constructive Criticism"), Applejack's tree costume ("Opening Night"), Pinkie's balloon-based Shiny City set which was at least used for rehearsals ("All the World's Off Stage").
- For additional Mind Screw, note that this canonizes a different Shiny City prop solution than in the previous short "Opening Night"...
- Kick the Dog: Cranky refuses to let the girls use his projector for their party for seemingly no reason than wanting to live up to his name.
- Series Continuity Error: The CMC were previously established to be the "Canterlot Movie Club", but here are the "Cutie Mark Crusaders" as in Equestria. Consequently this fails to make sense in the context of Equestria Girls.
- Unnecessary Combat Roll: Rainbow does several of them, while sneaking around an empty room.
