It's the first half of the practical exams! Will Class 1-A be able to hold their own against their teachers?
The next fight to go on is Tokoyami and Tsuyu's. They're up against Ectoplasm, who can create multiple copies of himself and fights via Doppleganger Attack. Although they can handle the individual clones, the students get stuck when Ectoplasm creates a giant copy of himself. Tsuyu manages to use Dark Shadow to get the handcuffs onto Ectoplasm, allowing them to pass the exam.
Iida and Ojiro are up next, and they make short work of Power Loader's trap by using Iida's Recipro Burst to fling Ojiro to the escape gate.
Aizawa then takes on Todoroki and Yaoyorozu. Todoroki's initial plan is to distract Aizawa while Yaoyorozu makes a break for the escape gate, but Aizawa quickly puts a stop to that. Yaoyorozu's insecurities about not performing as well as Todoroki come to light, and Todoroki reassures her by admitting he voted for her in the class elections because he believed in her leadership and skill. The two of them are able to turn the tables on Aizawa and capture him with the handcuffs.

- Chekhov's Gun: The nesting dolls Yaoyorozu pop out with her Quirk initially seem irrelevant, until she later flings them at Aizawa and reveals each one has a flashbang inside.
- Greek Chorus: In addition to Midoriya and Recovery Girl, Uraraka and Tsuyu (after her match finishes) also chime in on the matches.
- Instant-Win Condition: Iida and Ojiro win by escaping through the gate, while the Tokoyami and Tsuyu team and Todoroki and Yaoyorozu team win by landing the cuffs on their teacher opponent.
- Tail Slap: Ojiro gives a hefty one to Power Loader while escaping the field.
- Tunnel King: Power Loader is shown to be one during his fight, as it takes place in a large field which he continuously digs up.
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Toyed with, as Tsuyu can casually throw up whatever she has concealed in her stomach - in this case, the handcuffs - without trouble but still thinks that it's gross. She asks Tokoyami not to look and the scene obligingly also cuts away.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Todoroki gets Yaoyorozu to snap out of her self-doubt by telling her that he was one of the people who voted for her in the class elections. Her plans turn out to be what win them the match.
