- Cordon Bleugh Chef: Gonzo's recipes are...quirky, to say the least. They include pickled pineapple with sauerkraut, in a sandwich with an entire pickle on top.
- I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham: Chef insists Gonzo's cooking is yucky, until he actually tries it and loves it.
- Jaw Drop: Chef and Piggy's reaction when Sam loves the strange sandwich Gonzo made.
- Mythology Gag: During the opening, Chef briefly drops his adult counterpart's Character Catchphrase: "Børk børk børk!"
- Picky Eater: Sam is revealed to be one in this episode. He doesn't like crust on sandwiches, gooey cheese on pizza, and especially Gonzo's pickled pineapple and sourkraut sandwiches. Once he actually tries Gonzo's sandwich, however, he discovers that he likes it and it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
- Pink Means Feminine: Piggy's Diner is decked out in pink wallpaper, decorations, seating, and more; Barbie would be proud.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Chef, Gonzo, and Animal are comfortable wearing pink uniforms for the diner.
- Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Animal says "Faint!" shortly before doing so.
- Tears of Joy: Gonzo cries happy tears when he finds out that Sam, a very picky eater, loves his sandwich.
