Recap / Mighty Max S 2 E 17 Dawn Of The Conqueror

Go To

Norman has to fight a champion of the gods to earn the right to live for 10,000 more years. After Virgil shoves him through a portal to keep him out of the way, Max has to hurry through a series of dangers to help Norman with his own series of dangers.

Tropes:

  • Beast Man: The lion-headed, and extremely savage, Conqueror.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Among his numerous other guises, Norman's implied here to have inspired the stories of Hercules.
  • The Blade Always Lands Pointy End In: Norman gets disarmed in the first trial and his sword impales itself in the ground right in front of Virgil.
  • Loophole Abuse: Norman and Virgil are adamant about Max not getting involved in his duel because it would be against the rules. When Max finally makes it back, he talks it over with Virgil and they figure out somehow that Max can't help as an ally, but there is nothing stopping him from helping as a weapon, since the rules explicitly allow a participant to use any weapon of his choice.
  • Oh, My Gods!: The Conqueror constantly spouts mythology-related oaths through his and Norman's various running battles.
  • Serial Escalation: The Conqueror starts the first contest armed with a mace (like the toy), then a staff that shoots fire (but which can be blown out like a match by a strong enough wind), then hammers that cause earthquakes.
  • The Three Trials: Norman has to beat the Conqueror in three different contests to renew his lifespan.
  • Time Zones Do Not Exist: Somehow it's day in Greece, Australia, and America all at the same time.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Norman shatters his sword in the last test. It regenerates when his immortality's renewed.
