After a new temporary surgeon, the Swedish Dr. Inga, comes to the 4077, Hawkeye realizes a disturbing truth about himself.
Attention all personnel! Watch out for incoming tropes:
- Aggressive Submissive: The episode deconstructs Hawkeye's status as this by revealing he's a lot less confident when a woman takes the lead without his say-so.
- Heel Realization: After Charles goes on a rant about being shown up (in his opinion) by Inga, Hawkeye realizes that's exactly how he's been behaving, and immediately goes to try and make things right with her.
- Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Charles's attempt to impress Inga goes off the rails when he makes an offhand comment about Swedish women becoming "lumpy later in life," immediately followed by an expression of horror.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Margaret gives Hawkeye one for how, for as long as she's known him, the first thing he judges a woman by is her sex appeal, and how his chauvinistic ways are not, nor have they ever been, right. She gets an applause from the rest of the MASH, who were all listening in.
