An alien family called the Synths try to reclaim their territory in Quebec's forests. They capture Martin, his father, and Diana. They have to help themselves before the Synths feast on them.
General Tropes:
- Agent Scully: Much like his stepdaughter, Gerard Mystery prefers to follow scientific principles rather than believe in the paranormal. He does accept Martin's explanation about the Synth since it's the best explanation they can find.
- Big Brother Is Watching: Turns out the Center keeps tabs on all of its agents, and if they complain they are transferred to Antarctica.
- Call-Back: Martin recounts his past achievements with the Dark Druid from "Return of the Dark Druid", the Bogeyman from "It Came from the Bog", and the alien insect queen from "Terror from the Sky" as a Center agent, while talking about not being able to tell Gerard any of them without compromising the Center's top-secrecy.Martin: I've squared off against evil trees! I've defeated bog creatures! I've gotten in the face of an acid-spewing alien insect queen!
- Eyeless Face: The Synth may have big mouths, but have no visible eyes.
- Half-Human Hybrid: The Synths are a hybrid of human and alien DNA left on Earth by its creators thousands of years prior. They look like a sort of sasquatch with an alien head.
- Hell Is That Noise: The screams of the Synth are downright horrifying.
- Monster Is a Mommy: The Synth attacked the log cutters in order to get food for its young, and she's very protective of them.
- Super-Scream: The Synth have an incredibly powerful scream that they use to stun their prey.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Martin and Diana ask how the Center just happens to know they were invited to a camping trip with their father, Billy says the Center doesn't spy on its agents, all the time.
- Sympathy for the Devil: Martin sympathizes with the Synth, since she was just bringing food to her babies. M.O.M. assures him that the Center will see the family safe and cared for.
- A Taste of Their Own Medicine: Martin uses his father's sound recorder to turn the Synth's sonic scream against them, making them flee back to their cave, which Martin immediately seals by causing a rockslide with the scream.
- Unwilling Suspension: From the roof of the Synth's cave, Martin, Gerard and Diana are, with globs of green slime, hung by their ankles. They escape by removing their boots.
