Recap / Mao Mao S 1 E 26 Captured Clops

Go To

While training Adorabat, Mao Mao explains that Badgerclops never does the chores, instead playing a game instead of fixing the aerocycle and going grocery shopping. When Mao Mao turns off Badgerclops' game and calls him “lazy bones”, Badgerclops decides he has had enough and leaves. However, while at a lake, Badgerclops is taken by the Sky Pirates and when Mao Mao orders Badgerclops to take down the Sky Pirates and fix the aerocycle, Badgerclops decides to join the Sky Pirates instead due to them having a life without chores, and Mao Mao and Adorabat have to get him back (again), one way or another, even if it means fighting Badgerclops.

Tropes:

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Mao Mao easily defeats Badgerclops just by walking over and punching him in the gut (and not even that hard, at that). The Sky Pirates go down even before Mao Mao lays a finger on them because they're too tired from starvation.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Badgerclops joins the Sky Pirates. Not out of malice, but because he's too lazy to do his chores.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Badgerclops spends the entire episode being a Lazy Bum, who will willingly defect from his own team and join the Sky Pirates just because he hates work, and almost steals the Ruby Pure Heart out of pettiness (with Marion even calling out Badgerclops for doing that). Then Mao Mao has enough and decides to gut punch Badgerclops so hard that he collapses from pain.
  • Lazy Bum: This episode exaggerates Badgerclop's laziness up to eleven. He up and leaves the Sheriff's Department and joins the Sky Pirates just because he's asked to do a total of two chores; Mao Mao even notes that the video game he's playing instead of doing chores is about doing chores.
  • Mock Meal: Because no one had bothered to buy groceries, the Sky Pirates can only pretend to have dinner.
  • Not So Above It All: Like in "The Truth Stinks", we see just how sensitive Badgerclops can be if things don't go his way.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Sky Pirates' make-believe dinner becoming real spoofs the food fight scene from Hook.
    • Badgerclops is singing lines from "Go The Distance", from Hercules
  • Worf Had the Flu: The Sky Pirates are easily defeated because they haven't eaten in weeks and don't have the strength to fight Mao Mao off.
