Recap / Little Princess S 1 E 13 I Dont Want To Tidy Up

Go To

It's evening, and the Princess is adding the finishing touches to a pretend castle she made for Gilbert. The Maid comes along and tells her to tidy it up, but the Princess is none too pleased with this as the castle took all day to make: she started in the kitchen after breakfast but the Chef, as per usual, shooed her out. She moved to the dining room rug and nearly finished it, but was made to tidy it up due to the Prime Minister coming over. So, she went outside, only to be told to tidy it up again because the Gardener was mowing stripes on the lawn. The Maid, however, is not sympathetic and simply says, "You can make another one tomorrow.", which makes the Princess livid.

In the King's study, he and the Queen insist that tidying up is necessary "so you know where everything is", but the Princess points out that the King knows where everything is despite his desk being disorganised. Eventually, they allow her not to tidy up, as long as she keeps the disorder in her own room and doesn't ask anyone else to tidy up for her.

The next morning, the Princess digs through her toy box, while Scruff searches for a bone he buried at the beginning of the episode. The General wants the Princess to "inspect" his toy soldiers, but she says no. At dinner time, the Princess scarfs down her dinner so that she can get back to her project. The project is a toy town that she has dubbed "Gilbertland". However, Gilbert himself is unaccounted for.

She goes into the King's study and cries, and he tries to reassure her but it doesn't work, so she sits in her toy box and keeps crying. She tells the Gardener and General, and the latter suggests a search party, involving "expert sniffer dogs", so she tries to use Scruff as a sniffer dog.

In the searching process, the room gets tidied, but Gilbert still isn't found. The Maid enters, and luckily, she finds Gilbert under a pile of pillows.

Everybody then has a picnic outside and the Gardener gives Scruff his bone.
