Recap / Kid Cosmic S 1 E 9 Kid Cosmic And The Bad Good Guys

Go To

Kid launches himself straight into danger, trying to get the attention of the Earth Force to tell them the aliens aren't evil. He fails to get through and is picked up by the rest of the Local Heroes. The team makes up and agree to help return the Stones to their rightful owners.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Kid's pleas with Biker In Black fall on deaf ears, and he and his team are captured as a result.
  • Bait-and-Switch: At first we assumed that Papa G took Kid and the others back home so they won't get hurt. In actuality, Papa G was bringing out the costumes he made for the gang.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The back to back shots of the Biker in Black imprisoning aliens of all kinds regardless of how hostile they may or may not be is played out like an immigration officer indiscriminately arresting people regardless of their reasons for taking the risk and crossing the boarder. Meanwhile, his monologue on making Earth a galactic superpower can be taken as a war hawk's monologue on making their respective country a global superpower.
  • Downer Ending: The Local Heroes fail to get the stones back and are apprehended.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: Papa G grabs a chest from the house, dramatically trying to open it. However, the chest is locked and he can't open it, no matter how hard he pulls. Tuna unlocks it for him with his claw.
  • Funny Background Event: While the Kid Cosmobile moves as slow as can be, Rosa can be seen bobbing along to the out-of-tune melody in the rearview mirror.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: The Team stops by Papa G's shop to gear up for their return to the battle.
  • Mook–Face Turn: Papa G suggests using one of the government's Death Dogs to help infiltrate Biker's facility. It took some tinkering, and a lot of G clones, to form a working dog that doesn't kill anyone.
  • Female Monster Surprise: A brief and downplayed example, Kid assumes the Death Dog Papa G "modified" is a he, but Rosa and Jo say it's a she. It's never explained how they would know.
  • Insignificant Little Blue Planet: Biker in Black's real goal for using the stones is to defy this trope. He believes that Earth is treated as a joke from extraterrestrials, and wants to make it the most feared and respected planet in the universe.
  • No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: Kid's plan of "saving the day" is to stop the battle between Earth Force and the aliens, but have to make the plan up as they go since they lack the luxury of time.
  • Shadow Archetype: In a way, Biker in Black is this to Kid. Like Kid was to the other Local Heroes, our antagonist resents that other alien races look down on Earth for being a "joke". And just as Kid stole the other rings to prove himself, Biker in Black takes the stones for himself in order to amplify his heroes. The difference is, Kid has made up with the other local heroes, while Biker in Black refuses to admit he's in the wrong for trying to defeat the aliens.
