Phobos' forces use the Horn of Hypnos to enslave members of the Rebellion. As the heroes attempt to free them, Tarakudo makes a move of his own.
- Celibate Hero: Jade states that unlike her friends, she's not currently interested in a relationship. Alchemy expresses similar sentiments.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Lampshaded after Wong uses the Horn on Cedric. Jade isn't even really surprised by it.
- Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with Jade asleep and unaware that Tarakudo has put his symbol on her again.
- Crazy-Prepared: Uncle put up onion-based anti-Oni wards on the Infinite City to keep Tarakudo from finding it, and the rebels have started carrying onions just in case he shows up.
- A House Divided: Phobos chews out Wong and Cedric for how they are constantly undercutting and backstabbing each other, which only gives the heroes an edge over them, and threatens to throw them into the Abyss if they don't learn to work together.
- Logical Weakness: Because the Trance Marchers are Technically Living Zombies, they're subject to the needs and frailties of the average human body, which Captain Black exploits by knocking them out with anesthetics.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Uncle speculates that Shendu settled for controlling just one Shadowkhan tribe because trying to control them all would risk the return of the Oni, and Tarakudo has proven himself to have potential to rival Shendu's might. That's why he must have kept in his palace one part of the tablet telling about the Oni Masks and destroyed the rest of it to prevent others from trying to obtain all the masks.
- Right for the Wrong Reasons: The chapter opens with the Rebellion attempting to thwart a drilling operation by Phobos' forces to check for any secret tunnels into the castle. It's noted there aren't any tunnels, but there is a very real risk of Phobos stumbling upon the Infinite City and costing the Rebellion its greatest advantage.
- The Starscream: Wong admits to planning to use the Trance Marchers to usurp Phobos.
- Too Much Information: Jade says this when Yan Lin states that Trance Marchers are Technically Living Zombies who don't eat living flesh unless ordered to.
- You Won't Feel a Thing!: Tarakudo says this to Jade when he draws his mark on her shoulder.Tarakudo: Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit. (Jade grunts in pain) Well, it might hurt a little bit.
