- Adaptational Badass: The reason Cybertron Starscream made number 7: he stands out as being one of the more competent, successful, and powerful versions of him, and even became the Big Bad for awhile.
- Adaptational Heroism: Armada Starscream's gets him at number 1 on the list: while having the normal primary character traits, the different more heroic justifications for them makes him a much more dynamic and interesting of character than any of the other versions of him managed to be.
- Determinator: One reason Animated Starscream got the number six spot: sheer tenacity and how hard it was to actually put him down for good.
- Dirty Coward: Praises Prime Starscream for managing to take this aspect of Starscream and twist it into something that actually gave him depth.
- Hero Killer: Several Starscreams make the list by virtue of being this. Number 2, the Marvel Comics version, especially, who thanks to the Underbase killed an entire paragraph worth of characters.TJ: How many kills? Jetfire, Blue Streak, Brawn, Gears, Mirage, Hoist, Hound, Jazz, Blaster, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Soundwave, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Octane, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, the Aerialbots, the Technobots, the Terrorcons, the Seacons, the Throttlebots, the Dinobots, the Predicons, and Omega Supreme. That's about 56 kills by my count! This! This is the best day any Starscream ever had!
- In Name Only: His feelings about the Bayformers Starscream, who only makes the list because he needed 10 well fleshed out Starscreams.
- Mirror Universe: Shattered Glass Starscream makes the list at number 8, in part because being the polar opposite of his prime self makes TJ find him so amusing he has to be on the list.
- Noble Demon: One reason Armada Starscream ranks number 1 on the list: him being this made him have one of the best character arcs in the show and has a unique justification for many of Starscream's main character traits others simply can't do.
- The Starscream: It's a top 10 list of the Trope Namer in his many incarnations. The ones who actually succeeded at some point in their series for any period of time get praise for it.
