To achieve her goal of staying awake all night at a slumber party, Hailey suggests she and her friends play a prank on A.C. by vandalizing his prized jetski. Except it rolls away, explodes, and crashes into the ocean. The girls swear to secrecy, but someone seems to know what they did, plaguing their consciences.
Tropes:
- Continuity Nod: Lucy mentions she's recovered from her arms being broken in "Flippin' Out". One of them gets broken again when they try to stop the jetski from rolling away.
- Crazy-Prepared: Kennedy goes to sleep at 8 in a completely-sealed sleeping bag. When the other girls try to prank her with a rubber scorpion, an alarm system hits Hailey with an automatic fly swatter.
- Every Car Is a Pinto: A.C.'s Wavecat surfaces briefly after falling into the ocean, giving the girls a glimmer of hope of recovering it. Right before it explodes for no apparent reason, and sinks out of sight.
- Ironic Echo: Kennedy's "Nothing good happens after eight p.m." when she turns in early. This sounds like it's just her rules-obsessed nature. She repeats it when she exposes the crime A.C. committed that night.
- Red Herring: Someone puts up giant googly eyes near Hailey's house, like the ones she put on A.C.'s Wavecat. It wasn't someone tormenting her, Scott found the rest of them in the trash and put them up, assuming Hailey would think they were funny.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Hailey tries to confess to destroying the Wavecat, but Kennedy exposes that A.C. himself was responsible for destroying it when he found out he wasn't allowed to ride it after bragging about it in front of everyone. He gets sentenced to community service for it, not her.
- Slumber Party: The attempts to liven one up kick off the episode's plot.
- Whole-Plot Reference: The episode's a G-rated parody of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
