Recap / Everybody Hates Chris S 3 E 13 Everybody Hates The First Kiss

Go To

  • Ass Shove: When Chris tells Greg about "Spin the Bottle", Greg mistakes it for.. this.
Narrator!Chris: Greg wrote about that party in his book, "Ow! There's a Bottle In My-"
  • Big Damn Kiss: Chris finally gets his first kiss, even if it's from a random girl instead of someone he's romantically interested in.
  • Bittersweet Ending: A lighthearted example. Chris finally kissed a girl and got Dwayne off his back, but Rochelle comes outside when Tasha wants to try kissing him and Susan gives him the mumps.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Dwayne, Susan's boyfriend, becomes extremely unhinged when he hears she kissed Chris playing Spin the Bottle. At first, he confronts Chris and invades his personal space, but then he waits outside for him and follows him around.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: After Chris gets choked out with a garden hose by Tasha's friend Lisa, Narrator!Chris chimes in that ever since that day, he's always loved hoes. On some broadcasts, this word is muted.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Julius becomes this when Rochelle reunites with her Old Flame, Lance.
    • Dwayne becomes this after Chris kisses Susan, to say the least.
    • Tasha seems to be annoyed by how passionate Chris' kiss was with Susan, and later grills him about whether he finds Susan a better kisser than her.
  • Implied Death Threat: When Drew confronts Mr. Omar for the last time about his money, showing up in a limousine.
    Drew: Where's my money?
Mr. Omar: Man, we're on our way to a funeral!
Drew: You wanna make it two?
  • Kissing Warm-Up: Greg suggests Chris do "Lip-Ups", which is to practice kissing the floor, almost like push-ups. Drew catches him in the act, which Chris quickly plays off like he was just looking for a lost quarter, but Drew knows exactly what he was doing and tells him they don't actually work. A little bit after, he tries kissing his reflection in the mirror (complete with Vaseline on his lips), which Tonya catches him doing.
Narrator!Chris: Can't a boy kiss himself in the mirror in peace?!
  • Misfortune Cookie: Julius claims that fortune cookies are just superstition. Fittingly enough, the cookie he gets contains the message, "Here comes Lance", and that's when Rochelle notices her ex-lover, Lance.
  • Old Flame: Lance is Rochelle's ex-boyfriend, who just so happens to be at Wok's when the family is there for dinner. This causes a bit of friction between her and Julius, who gets a bit jealous.
  • The Scrooge: Drew inherits this from his father. He loves to find money and hates parting with it, visibly struggling to give Mr. Omar five dollars. He spends the rest of the episode hounding him to pay him back.
  • Serious Business: Spin the Bottle is this to the girls, as each one Chris brings the game up to put him in a chokehold just to make him promise not to tell anyone else.
  • Ship Tease: Tasha is a bit bothered by Chris and Susan's kiss, and at the end of the episode, interrogates Chris on a rumor that they're dating, and if he finds Susan a better kisser than her. She then boldly asks Chris if his mother is home, so they can go upstairs.. sadly, Rochelle is home.
  • Spin the Bottle: This is The '80s, after all, so it should be no surprise this game turns up. Chris hopes that this could be his golden opportunity to finally kiss Tasha.
  • Stalker without a Crush:
    • Drew spends most of the episode pestering Mr. Omar about paying him his money back. He goes so far as to show up in the limousine Mr. Omar is taking to a funeral.
    • Dwayne starts stalking Chris after the latter kisses his girlfriend playing Spin the Bottle.
