First Aired - November 23th, 1967

Sergeant Joe Friday and Officer Bill Gannon are working in the Robbery Division. Friday and Gannon are assigned to locate a purse snatcher. However, the purse snatcher is a dog that is making off with the purses, and none of the victims can agree as to what the dog looks like.

Just the Tropes, ma'am:

  • Animal Lover: Ingo Burry rescued the dogs from the pound and claims that he just wants to give them another chance. He had them steal the purses in order to feed them high quality food.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Bert Silver, an animal agent for movies, says that the owner of the dog could earn more money training the dogs to perform tricks in the movies than stealing. As training a dog to do the crime is impressive work that shows the owner has real talent.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: Gannon is talking about how no one can give a good description of the dog and thinks people don't know what dogs look like. note  Friday brings up that Gannon himself used to have a dog named Fred that passed away. When Friday asks Gannon details about what the dog looked like, Gannon is unable to give Friday a straight answer and doubles down on how he knows what Fred looked like, but can't remember.
  • Granola Girl: Noradelle De Leone is a stereotypical one. While talking to Friday and Gannon about her purse being snatched, she says she changed her name to Agnes Hicky and starts barking when she said the dog talked to her about wanting her purse.
  • Hard-Work Montage: Friday and Gannon interview each of the victims again trying to pin down what the dog looks like. However, each victim gives a different description.
  • Pink Elephants: Wanda Kravits' social worker believes that Wanda drank all of her money away and made up the story about the dog (Wanda called it a wolf) and saw the wolf while drinking. It isn't until Friday calls the social worker that, yes, a dog has been stealing women purses and Wanda is just the latest victim.
  • Rambling Old Woman Monologue: Wanda Kravits goes on long winded rants to Friday and Gannon about how her social worker thinks she drinks and about her injury.
  • The Stakeout: Friday heads a team to do stakeouts around the city with police women as decoys.
