This event contains examples of:
- Frankenstein's Monster: Laxi's character, Fran, was created similarly to the iconic monster by Sylas's character, Dr. Schmidt, down to the use of electricity. Instead of flesh, however, Dr. Schmidt built her using clockwork.
- Refusal of the Call: Sylas at first refuses to be part of the play. Laxi's attempts to change his mind were met with scorn from him. He finally shows interest after learning Marley's reason for the play.
- Replacement Goldfish: Dr. Schmidt created Fran to fill in a void left by his late wife, Carol.
- Shout-Out Theme Naming: Marley and Shelley are named after the creator of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley.
- Troubled Production: In-Universe.
- Marley wanted to write the play for his sister Shelley, who is hospitalized with an illness. Once her condition gets critical, he plans on cancelling the play. This upsets Laxi and Sylas for different reasons: Laxi, who understands the creation process, and Sylas, who is familiar with having hard work amount to nothing. Laxi plans to finish the script to save it.
- Before Sylas and Laxi got involved, the original lead actors have quit, and Marley was also undergoing an illness.
