The goddess had descendants? Oh, of course this was covered up!
Event Date: June 2021
Event Type: Onslaught
Element: Water and Fire

Tobias finds an old friend of his dying. Just before passing though, Sonniere gives Tobias an artifact and tells him to protect Nino. Upon finding Nino, Tobias finds out that she is a descendant of the Goddess Ilia. However, he soon finds out that the conservatives are after her with intent on having her executed on the claim of her being a liar. Not standing for this, Tobias does what he can to protect her.

This event contains examples of:

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: The "voice" in Nino's medallion sees Tobias willing to protect Nino from the Conservative faction no matter how outnumbered he is and gives him his Faeblessed form. Nino gets hers as a Faerie wing grows out from her, showing she truly is Meene's descendant.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Tobias and Nino are cornered by Father Glennie, they're saved by Ryszarda and Raphael. Happens again when Tobias is the one to save Nino from being sacrificed by Father Glennie.
  • Breaking Old Trends: This is the first Onslaught event to pit the player against Astral Agito, starting with Ciella.
  • Continuity Nod: Raphael brings up Johannes, the previous Grand Paladyn before Elisanne until she gave up the position in disgust.
  • Corrupt Church: The Ilian Church has sunk to a new low to a point they're now utterly trying to kill what's essentially the "Goddess Ilia", aka Meene's, descendant Nino, not just for "heresy" but for her mere existence disrupting their narratives. They fear news of her existence would disrupt faith in the Pope and the Auspex.
  • Fish out of Water: Nino is this, having only ever been in her village for all of her life.
  • Friendly Local Chinatown: The group hide out in Peng Lai since the Ilian Church has no foothold there.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Father Glennie gets this when Nino tells him that since there were charms to keep her own ancestors safe, why would Ilia, a goddess known for her compassion, require a blood sacrifice to unlock the Scrolls of Perdition?
  • Hidden Backup Prince: Nino is from a lineage that traces back to Meene after she tore her wings off and became mortal. The Church fought over whether to have a blood descendant or a new Pope and in the end, the heritage faction lost.
  • Internal Reveal: Tobias learns from Nino the truth about the "Goddess" Ilia's creation from Nino.
  • I'm Dying, Please Take My MacGuffin: Tobias is given a map and a chime to Nino's location before Father Sonnierre dies.
  • Living MacGuffin: Nino is this since Father Glennie wants to sacrifice her believing her death will unlock the Scrolls of Perdition.
  • Mêlée à Trois: Chapter 4 is every faction fighting each other. Tobias, Ryszarda and Raphael having to fight off the Conservatives and Perditionists who are just as well eager to kill one another. It's even called "A Three-Way Standoff."
  • Take a Third Option: Rather than go to the Halidom with Tobias or to the Curia with Ryszarda, Nino decides to go out on her own.
  • The Unreveal: Both in and out of universe; Ryszarda and Raphael have no idea what the Northern Church wants with the Scrolls of Perdition, and the other factions are not interested in talking.
