Recap / Dinotrux S 02 E 07 Racetrack

Go To

Ton-Ton's old Ankylodump gang, The Dumps, have come to visit, and the gang is not quite ready to handle four times the Ton-ton.

  • But Now I Must Go: After the Dumps make peace with the Trux, the former agree to be more respectful of the latter, but decide to leave Ton-Ton behind for now and seek more of their own kind of fun elsewhere.
  • Conflicting Loyalties: Throughout the episode, Ton-Ton is torn between defending his old friends or siding with the Trux who gradually get fed up with their destructive antics. This is why he initially decides not to compete in the climactic race, but when he sees that the Trux are losing, he decides to join firmly on their side, clutching them a win.
  • Continuity Nod: The gang notices that the Dumps enjoy driving on the paved path that was created in "Rollodons", so they decide to repeat the process on a larger scale to create the titular racetrack.
  • Defeat Means Respect: The climactic race ends with the Trux beating the Dumps at the last moment when Ton-Ton sides with the former and joins in to help them. Seeing this act of solidarity moves the Dumps to apologize for their insensitive actions and clean up their act.
  • Eat the Camera: Done by Ton-Ton during the Trux' race at the very end of the episode, whooping with joy when he speeds off before the race officially starts, much to Ty's dismay.
Ton-Ton: Once a Dump, aways a Dump! Woohoooooo!!!
  • Innocently Insensitive: The Dumps don't mean to cause any harm — they just want to have fun with one another. To the chagrin of the Trux, though, they don't pay any heed to the fact that their idea of fun is hurtful to their hosts. It takes Ton-Ton siding against them in the final race to get them to change their tune.
  • The Thing That Would Not Leave: The Dumps are welcomed by the Trux at first as old friends of Ton-Ton, only for the guests to turn out to be a little too fun-loving. They eat up the Trux' ore, destroy their property, and roughhouse too much with the Trux as much as each other.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: From both sides of the conflict. Naturally, the Trux and especially Ty reach their limit and read the Dumps the riot act when the latter take their antics too far and nearly hurt Ty. On the other hand, Ton-Ton is particularly upset when the gang begins to contemplate evicting the rowdy Dumps, citing that the trux are supposed to be about bringing Dinotrux together.
