Tropes

  • Chekhov's Gun: The newly released PDAs have the same transmission signal at the Digitizers, which Nejirangers are scanning for. This results in them mistaking innocent civilians for the Megarangers, who eventually use this against them to cause a distraction.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The two fights with the Nejirangers don't go in the Megarangers' favor, being nearly killed in the second fight.
  • Evil Twin: Before revealing their true selves, Nejirangers pretend to be carbon copies of the Megarangers and go on a rampage to draw them out. Neji Red explains it was out of respect.
  • Internal Reveal: Kubota learns Samejima became Dr. Hinelar.
  • The Psycho Rangers: The original versions of the Trope Namers are introduced here. While the concept had been used before, these were the first characters to really do justice to the concept of a team of evil rangers.
  • Public Domain Soundtrack: "Dies Irae" plays when the Megarangers get curbstomped.
  • Super-Speed: The Nejirangers get around this way and can easily catch up to the MegaTank.
  • We Need a Distraction: The Megarangers need to transform to get past a force field and rescue Kubota, but know that would immediately alert the Nejirangers who might learn their civilian identities. They have Yuusaku restore their transformation abilities and rig the MegaTank to run on autopilot through the city while emitting the Digitaizer signal. It pays off as the Nejirangers realize the trick and get back to Samejima estate moments after the transformed Megarangers breach the force field.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Kubota learns Samejima became Dr. Hinelar, who reveals his intend to take over Nezirejia and destroy his former friend.
    • The Megarangers are utterly defeated within an inch of their lives.
