Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 2 "A Measure of Trust"

Go To

Iacon's relics are on Earth! The heroes focuses their efforts on retrieving them before Megatron does. Meanwhile, tensions are high between Suzaku and Kallen and in an effort to get them to work together, they are sent with a small force on a seemingly simple mission. Things get complicated when they run into an old enemy as well a mysterious new Decepticon who seems to have plans of his own.

  • Birds of a Feather: Both Suzaku and Grindcore hit it off due to the two allies being former Decepticons.
  • Evil Counterpart: This chapter introduces the Dark Knights, the Decepticons' counterpart to the Black Knights. They are a group of Slave Mooks taken from their conquest of Britannia.
  • Forceful Kiss: Downplayed, but after the mission Suzaku surprises Euphie with a kiss on the lips, before telling her he doesn't need a command from her for him to love her. He pulls her into another kiss after this, this time with her returning it and the two wrapping their arms around each other to deepen it.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Outside his immediate circle of friends and loved ones, Suzaku is still distrusted by many of the ranks in the alliance due to him having once been a Decepticon.
  • Heads I Win, Tails You Lose: Optimus notes that even though Megatron managed to recover the Forge of Solus Prime, he can't use it, as only a Prime can actually use the hammer as something other than a weapon.
  • Jerkass Realization: Kallen realizes that the reason she has been so abrasive towards Suzaku is not because of his previous affiliation with Britannia or the Decepticons but because it made him an easy target to lash out at in grief of losing Cliffjumper during the Black Rebellion. Once she accepts this, she apologizes to Suzaku at the end of the chapter and begins treating him better.
  • Kick the Dog: Megatron mockingly credits Euphie for the discovery of the Cybertron relics, since her SAZ led to the Decepticons swiftly destroying Britannia. He does it again after recovering the Forge of Solus Prime.
Megatron: The Decepticon cause is once again, indebted to the generous contributions of Euphemia li Britannia.
  • Meaningful Name: Rivalz asks why Alpha Trion had "Trion" as a last name instead of "Prime" if he was one of the original Primes. Smokescreen says he asked the same exact thing once, and explains it is because Alpha Trion was the third Prime created, after Prima and Vector Prime.
  • Named by the Adaptation: We learn that Mrs. Kozuki's name is Akari.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Suzaku used to adhere to Thou Shall Not Kill and still makes a point of not taking pleasure from killing, so him admitting that he would enjoy killing Airachnid speaks volumes of how much he hates the spider-con for everything she did in R1. Even Euphemia (due to her own traumatic experiences with Airachnid), who hates killing, silently admits to wanting the sadistic Decepticon snuffed out for good upon seeing her again.
  • The Power of Hate: Marianne actually manages to shrug off Optimus' Geass on Anya due to her hatred of Prime for "stealing" her children and blaming him for Charles' death.
  • Split-Personality Merge: It's revealed that Viletta's memories came back during the Time Skip, but decided to remain with the Alliance all the same. Her feelings for Ohgi haven't changed, either.
