The Voltron Coalition returns to Earth, to gather what few allies are remaining to liberate the planet from the Galra.
- Breather Episode: While the last chapter was extremely emotionally heavy, this one is more lighthearted and has plenty of goofy scenes, though mixed with a few darker ones to keep the stakes up.
- Chekhov's Gun: Joseph slips a jump drive into Shirley's bag, and when she finds it, she gives it to Rai, to see what kind of information is on it.
- Exact Eavesdropping: Haggar uses her magic to listen in on Charles and Marianne’s telepathic conversation, and learns about Ragnorok.
- Given Name Reveal: This chapter finally reveals the name of Kallen's mom — it's Yua.
- If It Swims, It Flies: The Castle of Lions proves able to operate underwater just as easily as it can in the sky and in space.
- Outside-Context Problem: Even the Olkari have no idea how Codes work, and are only able to determine that it appears to be some kind of sentient energy.
- Parents as People: Shirley's parents are the only ones who aren't quite on board with their daughter being among the paladins, though Joseph has realized that there's no point in stopping her and secretly decides to start helping her.
- Present Company Excluded: When the Castle of the Lions successfully jumps into the Mariana Trench, it’s mentioned that no human made submarine ever made it that deep, with not even a Britannian submarine being able to reach that depth leading Tamaki to call out:"Ha! Take that Britannia!" (Beat as he realizes that Britannians are among them) "Er… No offense."
- Put on a Bus: The Paladins leave their families and non-combatant friends on Olkarion, so that they can free up the castle for military personnel.
- Underwater Base: When the Castle of the Lions returns to Earth, the ship jumps to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Though this is temporary, as Allura informs them that they’ll gradually rise the ship back up to the surface.
