Recap / Code Geass: Paladins of Voltron, Chapter 42, "Greening the Cube"

Go To

Now allied with the Blade of Marmora, the Paladins set their sights on freeing the planet Olkarion.

  • Adaptation Distillation: The Paladins in Legendary Defender don't meet the Blade of Marmora until after they visit Olkarion. Here, they meet the former before encountering the Olkari.
  • Adaptation Expansion: A minor example, but the canonical scene where Milly reveals she engaged to Lloyd gets an extension when Lelouch uses his "powers as a Britannian Prince and Paladin of Voltron" to officially declare the two married, and then divorced. It is so far the only thing to make Milly lose her composure and blush while letting out a Big "WHAT?!".
  • Adipose Rex: King Lubos is extremely fat and secretly sold out his people to the Galra.
  • Artificial Limbs: Lelouch explicitly asks Coran if the Olkari can make these, seeing how Cornelia is still down an arm.
  • Bamboo Technology: The Olkari resistance evolved their powers to manipulate wood instead of metal. They even created their own Knightmare Frames made of wood.
  • Death by Adaptation: Commander Branko is killed by Sayoko roughly three seasons before he bit it in canon.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Commander Branko is killed in Legendary Defender when he gets blasted by his ship's own ion cannon. Here, he's fried by Sayoko using a Radiant Wave Surger.
  • Gut Feeling: Lelouch has one warning him that Lubos might have betrayed his own people to aid the Galra, based upon what Charles did on Earth. Sure enough, it turns out to be correct.
  • Insufficiently Advanced Alien: ZigZagged. During the battle, the wooden Knightmare Frames that the Olkari resistance built are noted to be more cumbersome than the wooden Lancelot and Guren MK II.
  • Instant Expert: Rai, Lloyd, and Rakshata almost immediately figure out how to use the headbands that the Olkari provide them, with the latter two using them to create wooden versions of the Lancelot and the Guren MK II.
  • Irony: Despite Euphemia being a more open and tolerant person than her sister (at least initially), it's Cornelia who is first among the sisters to thank Sayoko for caring for Lelouch and Nunnally.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Lubos is one, albeit with the extremist title replaced with The Quisling - when Lubos claims he was forced to ally with the Galra to avoid Olkarion being destroyed, Kallen pointedly asks him if they "force-fed" him, as Lubos has clearly been living in luxury while his people were enslaved.
  • Rock Beats Laser: Despite the Knightmares that the Black Knights and Olkari resistance use being made of wood, they’re nonetheless able to drive off the Galra from the planet. Though it should be noted that the Olkari are ridiculously advanced at normal and biotechnology, so this trope is ZigZagged.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Lubos' fate is up in the air at the end of the episode.
