Recap / Chuck S 2 E 09 Chuck Vs The Sensei

Go To

Yeah, well, the thing is Casey doesn't really have a calm center. It's more of an angry center.
-Chuck

Casey's former sensei turns up, having turned traitor. Buy More holds an Employee of the Month contest. Awesome's parents try to help with wedding planning. And Chuck helps Casey get in touch with his feelings.

Trope Flash:

  • Actor Allusion: When Chuck realises the key to Casey beating Bennet is to get angry, and so he starts getting under Casey's skin as only he can.
  • Berserk Button: Ellie finally snaps under the pressure of the Drs Woodcombe's well-meaning help when Awesome's father offers to walk her down the aisle in place of her father. Turns out this is the one thing in the wedding she truly cares about, and it's out of reach. Chuck promises to find their father for her.
  • MacGyvering: Handcuffing Chuck in the Orange Orange turns out to be a case of Locking MacGyver in the Store Cupboard when he uses a gas nozzle to freeze and break the handcuff chain.
Chuck: Those seven years of MacGyver finally paid off!
  • Oh, Crap!: Many times, mostly with Chuck.
    • When he sees Bennet at the Buy More, having tracked Casey there. And a minute or so later, when he tries to follow Bennet and is spotted.
    • Sarah, when she realises Chuck is trapped in the car Casey is playing chicken with.
    • Chuck again, when he goes to Bennet's base and is captured before he's even parked the car.
  • Punk in the Trunk: When Bennet catches Chuck following him he shuts him in his trunk. Which is a big problem when Casey decides to play chicken with the cars...
  • Unwanted Assistance: Awesome's parents are eager to help plan the wedding, but Ellie finds them a little overbearing. The best example is during the cake tasting, when Awesome's mother asks which one Ellie likes then talks right over her answer.
