Recap / Cardcaptor Sakura Sakuras Scary Test Of Courage

Go To

  • Warning! Unmarked spoilers ahead.

It's a hot summer day and Kero's been left at home while Sakura and most, if not all, of her class have gone on a trip to the seaside under the supervision of their teachers. They've been experiencing the typical recreational activities and some not-so-recreational activities, but as they prepare for bed Sakura and her friends learn that they'll be performing an activity tomorrow called the "test of courage"; this is already cause enough for Sakura to feel tense but it gets worse when she hears a spooky tale about the site of the activity.

The next day the test is more thoroughly explained in that the students will be paired up before being given a candle to deliver to a shrine inside a cave; it's fully expected that there's only one way in and out of the cave but as time goes on more and more students and teachers go missing. Sakura has to get past her fears and determine the cause of these absences.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bedsheet Ghost: The first suggestion of something scary is the PE teacher dressed up as one of these, but it gets worse.
  • Creepy Cave: The site of the test of courage, made worse by the steady disappearances of various characters.
  • Face Your Fears: Sakura's inside a cave she's heard a spooky tale about, which seems to be coming true around her as everyone she knows starts disappearing. The only chance she has of getting them back is to go into the darkness to find and confront the cause.
  • Immune to Jump Scares: Tomoyo hardly reacts at all to the Bedsheet Ghost mentioned above.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Because seeing empty air where once was one of your friends has terrible implications.
  • Summer Camp: Sakura and her friends seem to be attending one closely linked with their school.
