It's the end of summer, and Sakura hasn't done her homework! She gets started, with her brother and Yuki's help, but still has to do a book report. The shortest book in the library keeps moving around, just as she and Syaoran try to use it for homework. Is it another Clow Card?

Tropes for this episode include

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Both Sakura and Syaoran, who are good students, put off their summer homework and decide to get the shortest book in the library to do a report on it.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Ultimately, it's working together to get the book back that allows Syaoran and Sakura to become friends.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Syaoran goes Oh, Crap! when he sees the shirt that Sakura borrowed from him. A few seconds later, a girl appears in his apartment and reveals that she gave it to Syaoran and accuses Sakura of trying to steal him.
  • Laborious Laziness: Played for Laughs. All the effort that Sakura and Syaoran undergo to seal the card could have been avoided if they had done their homework on time and chosen another book.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Sakura borrows one of Syaoran's shirts, thanking him for it. He goes Oh, Crap! but before he can explain, one of his roommates appears and reveals that it's the shirt she gave to him. The girl then accuses Sakura of trying to steal Syaoran.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Played for Laughs when Sakura rescues the book but then falls in the river.
    • Syaoran has this reaction when he sees Sakura wearing the shirt that Meiling gave him.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: Both Sakura and Syaoran are this. They wait until the last day of summer break to work on their homework.
  • Wham Episode: A girl has moved in with Syaoran from Hong Kong, and she accuses Sakura of trying to steal him away.
