Tropes

  • Bedsheet Ladder: Calvin and Hobbes use one to climb out their bedroom window to escape Rosalyn.
  • Character Development: Though her expression implies that she's half-assing it, this is the first arc where Rosalyn shows at least some interest in trying to connect with Calvin. She invites him to come out of his room so they can make popcorn.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Rosalyn wore cleats to babysit Calvin, correctly anticipating she might have to chase him down outdoors.
  • Godwin's Law: While escorting Calvin back inside after his attempted escape, Rosalyn lectures him about how it's her job to watch him and that he's going to behave or else. Calvin throws up a Nazi salute and says "Jawohl, Mein Fuhrer!". Rosalyn understands the reference, and does not appreciate it.
  • Hope Spot: Calvin's parents are relieved to hear that Calvin wasn't too much trouble. Then, a policeman shows up with a tip about hostages in their house.
  • Pet the Dog: Rosalyn offers to make popcorn with Calvin before discovering that he's run away.
