Tropes

  • Anger Born of Worry: Pretty much everyone is mad at Bruce, but it's obviously because he just took a severe beating and is refusing to rest. Tim pushes him back down and warns him about ripping the stitches; Damian demands if almost bleeding to death once wasn't sufficient, and a peeved Alfred benches him.
  • Bedsheet Ladder: An injured Bruce escapes his bedroom through the window with a rope of linens tied together, but Tim is there to greet him at the bottom.
  • Chair Reveal: When Bruce is trying to get into the Batcave despite being on supposed bed rest his attempt to sneak through his apparently empty office is interrupted when Damian spins the chair around and catches him, complete with his petting his cat like a villain's Right-Hand Cat.
  • Crazy-Prepared: As one would expect from the Bat-family, the plan to make Bruce rest in spite of himself accounts for just about everything. When he tries to walk out of the room, Alfred is sitting outside. Upon climbing out the window, he finds Tim waiting for him. Sneaking through the office gets him caught by Damian. Once he finally makes it down to the Bat-cave, he finds that Jason has taken all the tires off the Bat-vehicles.
  • Disapproving Look: As he's being helped back up the stairs, Bruce tries to bribe Tim into letting him into the Batcave with one million dollars. Tim responds with a "seriously?" look.
  • Glad I Thought of It: After being caught thirty-three different times, Bruce finally gives up and announces that he's decided to get some rest so his injury will improve. Alfred cheerfully lets him act like it was his idea.
  • I Can Still Fight!: Bruce gets antsy pretty much immediately when put on bed rest to recover from injuries and tries to sneak into the Batcave to do some work as Batman, claiming Gotham can't wait.
  • Know When to Fold Them: It takes 33 tries, but by the end of it all, Bruce accepts that maybe he needs a little R & R...or at the very least, that his family won't let him go back to work.
  • Mythology Gag: Jason prevents an injured Bruce from going into the field by stealing the tires off all his vehicles. In the comics, Batman first met Jason when he was attempting to steal the tires off the Batmobile.
  • The Patient Has Left the Building: Bruce tries to leave his sickroom for the entire episode. It never works for long.
  • Tempting Fate: Bruce usually thinks something optimistic right before getting caught again.
  • Vehicular Sabotage: Jason's part of the plan involves disabling all the Bat-vehicles by taking the tires off every single one. This is the last straw that finally sends Bruce back to bed.
