• The Dog Bites Back: Once the Gibbles learn they can use their fuel-based powers to enhance their weapons, they rise up against Kanjar Ro.
• Dramatic Irony: The Gibbles believe that Batman is the Blue Beetle's sidekick when it's really the other way around.
• Establishing Series Moment: The minute Batman pulls a lightsaber out of his belt, you know this show isn't exactly going to be Darker and Edgier.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: After Jaime uses his own weakness to the vibrations to his advantage, he uses said weakness on Kanjar Ro which is too intense even for Kanjar Ro to handle, allowing the scarab to land just a hair out of Kanjar Ro's reach. He refuses to accept defeat however and decides if he can't have the scarab, no one can.
• Powered by a Forsaken Child: Kanjar Ro and his pirates kidnap the Gibbles in order to use them as fuel.
• Power Incontinence: Jaime is still struggling to know how to hone his powers as Blue Beetle.
• Recurring Extra: Much like Cavalier who would later make three additional episode appearances in the episodes "A Bat Divided!", "Night of the Batmen!", and "Bold Beginnings!" after his debut episode "The Eyes of Despero!", Kanjar Ro also later made appearances in the episodes "The Super-Batman of Planet X!" and "Four Star Spectacular!". Kanjar Ro also made an appearance in the episode "Night of the Batmen!" at the beginning of the main story though he doesn't have any dialogue in the episode.
• Sonic Stunner: The Gamma Gong.
• Verbal Backpedaling: Batman figures out-loud that whoever owned the Blue Beetle suit before Jaime was killed by Kanjar Ro. When this visibly bothers Jaime, Batman adds the possibility that said-predecessor "retired".
