Archer takes a higher-paying job at rival agency ODIN, and Malory puts a burn notice out on Archer while getting drunk on absinthe.
This episode provides examples of:
- Bedroom Adultery Scene: Barry is furious when he sees his "fiance" Framboise (to whom he had not yet actually proposed) having sex with Archer while supposedly handling the HR details of his onboarding with ODIN. He is a Hypocrite in this, as he himself is simultaneously looking to have sex with Lana as a condition for the job offer meant for her. Likewise, Lana is equally steamed at Cyril, who has sex with Framboise despite having accompanied Lana to Paris because he did not want to let her out of his sight, under suspicion that she's trying to be intimate with Barry.
- Everyone Has Standards: Even with Len Trexler's on/off relationship with Malory, he expresses disgust after learning how Malory never bothered to tell Archer she moved while he was in boarding school, which led to him spending Christmas [Eve] in a police station after trying to find her. He's also briefly disgusted with himself after setting Archer loose on Framboise and then learning she's marrying Barry, only for Barry to clarify they're "engaged to be engaged."
- Everyone Looks Sexier if French: Framboise, a seductive French woman who is Barry's girlfriend, and has sex with both Archer and Cyril within the space of maybe an hour or so. The former of which costs her job.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Malory is devastated after learning she had put a burn notice on Archer while drunk on absinthe and spends the rest of the episode sobbing over how her "baby is dead."
- Offing the Offspring: Drunk and enraged at Sterling leaving to go work for ODIN, Malory puts out a burn notice on Archer. This leads to Len and Barry plotting to kill him as a suspected security risk, but Lana was able to undo this on their way out.
- Parental Neglect: While drunk, Malory rants about an incident when Archer was nine and she'd moved without contacting his boarding school or him to give her new address. He left the school during Christmas break and because he had no idea where Malory was he had to spend Christmas Eve in a police station while they tried to find her. During the rant Malory acts like the whole thing was Archer's fault for not bothering to call her, causing Cheryl to comment this explains a lot about Archer.
- Sustained Misunderstanding: Barry extended the job offer to Lana, not Archer. Len decides to hire Archer anyway for the sake of screwing with Malory's head. He soon drops it when he received the burn notice.
