Go To

Cavin, a Page for the kingdom of Dunwyn stumbles upon the plot of Duke Igthorn, who seeks to conquer the land for himself. Luckily, he also finds the last remnants of a legendary race – the Gummi Bears. While he hopes their vaunted magic and prowess could save the day, the Bears at present have lost touch with all that made them legends. Can Duke Igthorn's plot be stopped?

Tropes

  • Broken Pedestal: Cavin is heartbroken to find that his heroes aren't going to stop Igthorn. When they Changed My Mind, Kid, it becomes a Rebuilt Pedestal.
  • Bystander Syndrome: The Bears' initial stance on Duke Igthorn. While Gruffi has No Sympathy, Zummi admits that's it's because they wouldn't be much help without their magic and technology. After unlocking the Great Book of Gummi and discover their ancestors' vow to protect the human, the Bears later decide to help out with their meager power.
  • Cassandra Truth: Igthorn doesn't believe the Ogres that say Gummi Bears exist. He later sees them attacking his army and soon discovers the Gummiberry juice.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When Cavin tosses his Gummi medallion in anger (see the reason above), Zummi takes it to the Great Book and discovers it was the key to unlocking it.
  • The Greatest Story Never Told: Cavin is made a Secret Keeper. When questioned how Duke Igthorn's plot was foiled, Cavin has to claim that the catapult fell apart on its own.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • After Duke Igthorn gets crushed by one of his ogres, courtesy of Cavin tossing two of them into the distance via Gummiberry Juice, Toadwart gleefully sings, “I no get squashed! I no get squashed!” He gets squashed by the second ogre shortly after.
    • The first time he drinks the Gummiberry juice, Igthorn lifts a huge boulder above his head, triumphantly declaring, "To-day, Dunwyn is mine; to-morrow, the world!" But the moment he says it, he loses his Super-Strength and suffers the first of his many humiliating defeats as he is flung from his own catapult, skids across the castle floor on some fruit, and is shot up the chimney out of sight.
