Canis: Do you even know how to use that thing, kid? The safety's still on.
Benzene: Revolvers like this don't have safeties, smart guy.
Canis: ...Touché.

"...You can avoid a bullet if you know when it's fired."
I twisted my body to get the gun off my head right when he fired. Using the momentum, I backfisted him on his head. The question about the safety is a well-known technique. It causes the shooter to hesitate by making him wonder if the safety really is on. But the technique only works against inexperienced people, since skilled people like him will shoot without hesitation. But I took that into consideration and provoked him to fire. I knew he would fire right away. Sure enough, he fired instantly and fell right into my trap.

"You haven't even taken the safety off, rookie."
Solid Snake to Meryl Silverburgh, and later Johnny Sasaki, Metal Gear

Kevyn: I'm finished. All the disabled weapons have been repaired.
Tagon: What was wrong? Why wouldn't they fire?
Kevyn: That A.I. was pretty subtle, using the absolute minimum amount of force necessary to disarm us. All of the sidearms had their 'fire/safe' switches fused in the 'safe' position.
Tagon: Kevyn, these are not consumer-grade sidearms. If you pull the trigger, they are supposed to fire. Period. Philisophically speaking, there is no 'safe' mode for a sidearm. Thus, the weapons I issue my men don't have any schmansy-pansy 'fire/safe' switch.
Kevyn: Oh. Well, they do now.
Tagon: That's not subtle. That's showing off.

"Bad move, O'Brien," I said evenly.
"Yeah?" O'Brien sneered, "What you gonna DO about it, Freak?"
"This." I reached into my purse and pulled out a cell phone.
"WHAT? Yer gonna call the COPS?"
"No." I flashed the 'neuralizer' at him for the priming exposure.
"What was that?"
"Oh, I just wanted a picture of your face when you realized that you hadn't taken the safety off on that shotgun."
Vamp (Alex O'Brien) bluffing her (legal, not biological) father, "Diamonds are a Vamp's Best Friend", Whateley Universe

Mirror-Bareil: You've been so cooperative up to now. I'd hate to have to kill you.
Kira: You're not going to kill me.
Mirror-Bareil: You're sure of that?
Kira: You're not going to kill anyone. Not with that disruptor. The power cell's cracked.
Mirror-Bareil: ...How long have you known?
Kira: Since we left Ops.
Mirror-Bareil: Then why'd you come with me?
Kira: I needed the exercise.
